#8785 Yahoo E-mail Technical Abuse Link

Posted by thepinoytube on 03 April 2007 - 04:02 PM

My site gets several hundred signups a day, and a good number of them use Yahoo email addresses; recently, there was a stuckage where my Yahoo users weren't getting their verification code emails, and my host checked for me and this was the error message they got: 451 Message temporarily deferred.

There's a link there to a form you can fill out so that they won't consider you bulk/spam mail. I'm going to look for the ones on Hotmail and Gmail as well to fill out.

#58206 cant upload videos

Posted by erico on 04 June 2009 - 08:27 PM

In this case the first thing you have to do is check to make sure videos does not exceed max_upload_filesize. (check php.ini)

Here are some hints you have to check out first

check /usr/local/lib/php.ini
Make sure GD, jpeg, freetype and png support in PHP, are present for that to work fine

check your Maximum Post Filesize - {max_post_size} and
Maximum Upload Filesize - {max_upload_filesize}

make sure they have the same size limit say 300M
Video size must not exceed what you have set else...

carefully check your php.ini
chmod 755 cgi-bin/ubr_upload.pl

#57768 need to mod script

Posted by jigglybean on 18 May 2009 - 09:57 PM

that would involve playing around with the css and the index.tpl pages. if you know the php stuff, then have a look at the code and give it a whirl. But always make a copy of you original index.tpl page just incase you make a mess

Double check path by using this:

<?php
phpinfo();
?>

save as phpinfo.php and upload it to your website root directory, then browse the file to check your path... ;)

#21231 ANOUNCING ClipShare version 3.0!

Posted by shakyfry on 06 September 2007 - 07:33 AM

This thread although informative about the "upcoming" release whenever that will be was very entertaining. Especially the down under guy who seems to be somewhat intelligent with his gay bar sarcasm.

My question to you is and please do not take this personally. If you announce a release of an upcoming product and plan success as one of your goals, why wouldn't you consider running your initial post through Office spell check before you posted it and maybe present it with a little more professionalism. This totally can make someone who has an ounce of intellect feel they might be buying a script once again thrown together in the basement of teenage scripter’s. It doesn't take but what 30 minutes?

Personally I see many talented script writers on this forum but I also see very sloppy introductions and unprofessional retaliations by "staff" to users who doubt for good reason.

You at Clipshare should re-evaluate your position and realize you have a goldmine waiting to happen. Now if you could only 86 the vague release date info, childlike presentations, and hand-me-down staffers I could almost bet your product would sell more then it does already.

It is easy to sniff out that this Danny guy writes well and knows what the hell he is doing but dumps the major responsibility of his product onto Aryos. Excuse the French but is Aryos Danny's less experienced bitch? Who is who here?

I have read several and I mean several posts in this forum and you talk about the new release date as if you don't have earlier versions to tend to. People have paid good money for this product and now that you have 3.0 in the works you have in recent days ignored several bug issues for 2.5 with the response "It will be fixed in 3.0.

That's kind of like Microsoft saying... "Stay screwed with the bugged out Windows XP… we are working on Vista now. When Vista comes out buy that and forget the fact you ever paid for XP. Also hope that we release Vista in a 3 month time frame from when you first bought XP, otherwise the bugs are your problem because we are only working on Vista now." If you want the fix, spend more money.

These are just a few of my thoughts and I am sure there could be debate, but I digress. I realize it must be exhausting and tons of work developing the new release. But someone should focus. I think your product has great potential but there are a few ethics and scenarios you deliver to your existing customers in poor form. This should be ironed out. Otherwise people are going to start switching to Linux!

He was responding to another forum members who had pretty much attacked him. Read the whole thing to get the big picture. They both got pretty upset. Hey, what if they were really one person? Or if Danny was actually Aryos? Haha. Nice rumors to distract folks, huh?

#18023 How I added ads to my videos

Posted by theGrindLab on 27 July 2007 - 12:32 AM

**This didn't work for me a few weeks ago but I just tried it again and I was successful. Makes me happy! :)

With that said, understand that this doesn't work for all the videos on your site. You can use this with your most popular videos to get a good number of ad impressions.
-----

If you are familiar with Adbrite/Avnads then you should check out the InVideo option.

You'll need the Clip-Share mod that allows you to embed videos into your site as opposed to uploading them.

Then, you'll need to know the file name (number) of the video you want to use for ads. Your videos are in the /flvideo folder.

It's pretty simple. Got to InVideo on the Adbrite site. Put in all the proper details about your video. In the section that asks you for the video URL put in the REAL URL to the flv file, NOT the URL your clip-share site generates. That's the key. Then, go back to your site to the 'embed' feature (again, you'll need the mod) and paste the embed code provided by Adbrite.

This will mean you'll have 2 versions of the same video on your site so what I place to do is create a folder (perhaps /flvads) where I place my most popular videos and then link to those instead. I choose this route so that if the original videos get deleted for some reason I'll always have the "ad" version in a separate folder. Then, I can simple feature the ad version in the "featured videos" section. That's another way to get higher impressions from the video.

#17885 Two servers

Posted by bronc on 25 July 2007 - 05:06 PM

Moving the database over to another system is pretty simple and does save a lot of load on the systems also running the web server(s).

If you have 2 systems, try moving the database to the second box and then run multiple instances of apache on the first. With MySQL gone, you'll free up resources to serve more pages. That's currently how I've got ours set up.

#17787 I see other scripts like Clip Share. Is it illegal softs???

Posted by Aryos on 24 July 2007 - 08:55 PM

Thankfully you agree with us. That rule is 100% unfair. I mean, yes, you deserve a warning if you are saying "Clip Share SUCKS! Go buy ABC script!"

No, in this case, if it was up to me, your account would be deleted asap and your hostname/IP banned from the forum.
The rules I follow are simple: Never explain, never complain. The forum has Terms Of Use. statistically, one out of 50 users actually reads the Terms upon registration, but that's not my problem.

but if someone if asking for a simple opinion, and you say "Clip Share is good, but I also recommend ABC script. You can compare and see which you like better." What's wrong with that?

It's simple: You go into someone's house, you're offered hospitality, you respect the rulesof hospitality. You don't harm his business by advertising other products. What is politically correct to say would be something like: "I found ClipShare has this problem, because.....". Only referring to our product and only with arguments and no subjective judgments. Imagine you're a customer who comes to buy the product and reads in the forum: "ClipShare sucks, its so fu*** slow in my server. That other script I used is faster and can handle twice as many users". You have stopped someone from buying, thus harming our business.

I think the forum rules slightly contradict with the Pre Sales Forum. I mean, in that area you are SUPPOSED to ask if the script is good, and compare with other companies.

The Pre-Sales forum is for getting to know what the script does, how it does it, what requirements it has, how much load can handle, its features, etc. Not
compare it to any other software. With the exception of a thread I made, but that was my initiative, because I've simply had it with all these posts wandering around, asking questions that can't and will not be answered or things that have been previously discussed a hundred times over.

Lastly, since Louis got warned for saying another script is good, does that mean that EVERYONE should be warned? It only seems, fair, right?

They should. But I can't spend hours moderating the forum just for that. i have better things to do.

And if we are saying bad things about another script, don't you think we should be warned as well? T

No, because these other scripts are not OUR business. Personally, I wouldn't allow it, because I would expect the same from the moderator of another script forum when someone buried ClipShare there with no proper arguments.

No, indeed. But the thread should not have been started in the first place. To my opinion, your warning was a bit too much, but then again, it's according to the Terms of Use. By simply referring to a script, is advertising. Then again it was the thread which was in need of opinions... The thread should have been deleted when started.

#10720 When will the next PRO verision be available?

Posted by bAjA on 05 May 2007 - 10:55 AM

thanks again for the new mods... i have installed cloud tags, the new pagination and the members page.. your upgrade instructions clear and easy to follow...

only one little bug to report - you have got a {baseurl} missing from the url on the tags links.. causing an issue if cs is not installed in the root...

greatly impressed that you have provided these cool upgrades without disturbing my customization... cheers...
